Fake?

It's real, I went there.

But the schools absolutely rubbish. Made my life hell from day one when I started there. Mr Drew was a really fair person and was portrayed correctly, but Mr Goddard is such an idiot. Half the stuff they did with kid's like Vinni was just to make good t.v as I was in a similar situation to him, and I knew others that where too, but no one tried hard with us, only because we weren't on T.V. I think Mr Goddard does have a passion, but only for certian people. We didn't really get a choice if the camera's were in the school, it was just for Mr Goddard and his fame. It was stupid as when we were in exams and lessons it was really off-putting to have camera's shoved in your face. Some of the teaching staff are great, others aren't. The motto is "improving upon our best." The school just want perfection, they don't want anyone who's below-average ability.

Fake?

It depends on what you mean by "fake".

If by "fake" you mean that the performers are CGI or the locations they recorded from are actually all studio sound stages and backdrops, then "NO!" the people and places appear to be real.

If by "fake" you mean the show is OBVIOUSLY SCRIPTED and every shot is carefully mapped out, blocked, and cued, like any other docudrama, then, of course it is obviously fake.

There is literally no way to capture real life events in a school with the kinds of camera shot compositions they had. The subjects, while quite possibly real students at this school (I am not at all sure about that.) are quite clearly playing to the audience, VERY AWARE of the cameras and the scenes shown cover everything included in a textbook for television directing for a sitcom or hour-long drama series.
