Tiger's age

So how old is Kotetsu suppose to be?
Is it mentioned anywhere?

And Karina, aka Blue Rose, is she a college student?

reply

It's not mentioned in the series, but it has been stated by the creators that he was in his early 30s when the series starts. He's about 9 years older than Barnaby.

Karina is in high school from the looks of things. She was drinking mineral water when she was talking to Tiger about her future.

I often wondered who was youngest, Blue Rose or Dragon Kid. They never showed much of her life outside of Hero TV.

Thanks for the reply. I figured he couldn't be older than 30-something.

You're probably right about Karina. Now that I think about it, she and her girlfriends wore school uniforms, so it has to be high school. I kind of hoped she was a college student though, 'cause otherwise she's too young for that Blue Rose outfit, hehe.

But Dragon Kid has to be the youngest. She's definitely a kid, unlike Karina who's obviously a young lady.

I think it's adorable too that Karina has a crush on Kotestu, very much an older man. He likes her but thinks of her as a kid but that's not what she wants, is it? :D

Yeah, they don't say much about Dragon Kid, other than she's Chinese and a tomboy and her parents are proud of her.

Have you seen the whole series?

There is more out there that gives more background on the show and characters (especially Antonio/Rock Bison and Kotetsu) but none of it has been translated into English yet - not neven subtitled! Frustrating, no? :)

Yes, I've seen the entire show. Like Kotetsu, I'm a bit too old for it, but I loved it nonetheless. :)

I'm hoping someone will post subtitles for the movie version soon.

By the way, I love Hiroaki's voice. I find it hilarious whenever Tiger announces the next episode and fumbles trying to pronounce its title in English. Lol.

Oh, I LOVE Hiroaki's voice!!! He and Koichi Yamadera are my two favorites.

I love his voice so much I've watched a couple more awesome anime's he's in - he stars in Space Brothers (simulcast on crunchyroll) and he showed up in Sword Art Online in a small role too. Busy catching up with other things he's done. :)

He has an awesome voice and he's a fabulous actor, isn't he? Tiger is my favorite hero, and I love him as the main character Mutta in Space Brothers.

I know, I need to see the movie too. My Japanese isn't even close to being good enough to watch it without the subs. Sigh.

Hmm, I'll keep Space Brothers in mind, when I'm done with some other series I plan on watching.

I don't know if you've already seen this, but here's a review of the Tiger & Bunny movie: http://kotaku.com/5948121/tiger-and-bunny-the-beginning-is-half+rehash -and-half+filler-but-not-half-bad

I haven't seen that, but I have heard about it. :)

I thought Bunny was an ass anyway. It took a long time for me to like him, and they did tell the first half of the story, but did fill in more details. Bunny WAS an ass, but there was a reason for it. I think the second movie is going to be more new material, but takes place before the final episode of the series.

Man, I wish it could be available online before it gets dubbed. Don't know how long it will be before that happens, could be a year. Want to see what the second movie is going to be like too.

There has been more media released for Tiger & Bunny that is not available outside of Japan (curses! :)). If you haven't seen it yet, you MUST bookmark http://thisissternbild.com/. These guys have been blogging Tiger & Bunny since it first hit the air and they have a lot of scoop about what's out there.

I tried to get into one of the ustream conferences that was scheduled for the show, but it was blocked in the US (CURSES!!). Oh well. Check out that site, lots of good info on the movies, the show, other media devoted to the show - even a stage play!!. Yes, this was/is HUGE in Japan. And rightly so.

But yeah, Space Brothers is very good, some of it is cough up a lung laughing funny. I love the characters in here, especially Mutta and his mother. His mother cracks me up big time, AND his father. Good stuff.

Thanks for the tip on the blog.

Btw, now that I've seen the movie, I must say I could just as well have skipped it altogether. Didn't really bring anything new to the story and the way they handled some things even annoyed me a bit.

And oh man, did they do their best to sex up Blue Rose's character. I would describe her as a rather mean bimbo in the movie.

reply

Oh really? I'd think it was worth it for the new stuff. But I was never that attached to Blue Rose to begin with. I liked her in her private life, but the hero was not my favorite, I'm afraid (and yes, she was the fanservice - witness all the butt shots :) ).

They're doing it differently in the second movie I hear. It takes place during the second half of the series, but it's not a retelling like the first movie.

The series is told through Tiger's eyes, and they said the movie will give Barnaby's view of the events, which is why it's so much of the same material.

Eh, I guess I'm a bit of a nitpicker. Or maybe my perspective was wrong.
Nonetheless I'm still curious about the second movie and hope to catch that one too.
