I felt it was pretty good ending though I felt this was the weakest of the four seasons. I will miss the show, but I like how it ended, perfect amount of closure, though sad, it seems Josie doesn't know what to do next as that house and group was her life.
Season 4 wasn't great but the ending was decent, I liked that there was closure but I think things were wrapped up too nicely considering only a little bit before the end all the characters except Howard didn't know what they wanted to do.
Fresh meat could have been one of those shows that people looked back at in years to come and said how great it was, sadly the show was ruined by alot of the cast getting big around the time of the show and channel 4 delaying things for so long. Alot of characters didn't seem to work that well in season 4, in earlier seasons each had their good and bad traits but in the fourth season Oregon in particular had no redeeming qualities at all. In the first couple of seasons the situations were mostly realistic although obviously exaggerated, by the fourth season most of the situations the housemates found themselves in were pretty unbelievable.
They seemed to want to be more serious in the fourth season and I thought some of it was pretty accurate with the jobs and not knowing what you want to do etc but then they tried to be a skins type programme aswell which just didn't work for me.
I read that the writers wanted to do 2 seasons per uni year and had storylines planned out that way, I think from this season it was clear things were left out and other things were rushed. Josie basically became pretty much a support character for alot of it, I would have liked to have seen her search for housemates yield some results. I didn't like the way Candice was written out either, it would have been good to see a different side to Howard cause whilst he was entertaining and one of the more likeable characters in the final season he didn't really progress at all. I read that the actress who plays Candice wasn't even asked to come back so i can only assume that that storyline was cut due to only have 6 episodes to wrap everything up.
I waited for this final season for over 2 years and overall it's kind of disappointing that this show ended on such a poor season, even though I expected it. It's bittersweet really since I have watched the other three seasons 3 times wondering what would happen and now I know I can't help but feel let down and I doubt I will revisit them again. Atleast the final episode was somewhat satisfying.
Also if you haven't seen it there is a deleted scene from the final episode which takes place 3 months after graduation. It is on 4od.
I thought it was the best episode of series 4. I especially enjoyed oregon's reactions to her degree results. Not that convinced by the josie/JP resolution. Felt sorry for kingsley, even though i think he is a complete prat. Goodbye to a pretty awesome show.
Has anyone here been able to watch the deleted scene they posted on All4 here http://www.channel4.com/programmes/fresh-meat/on-demand/61449-004? I really want to know what the scene contains but can't seem to get the video to work from any of the browsers I use.
I have the same problem, it says to disable adblock but even when i do it doesn't work. I did watch the scene though via xbox and it is 2 minutes long. I'll give a brief rundown of what happens:
Josie calls up JP and Kingsley up on skype and JP is in the process of selling a house whilst Kingsley is sat on the sofa. Josie talks about going down to London on the weekend and Howard appears and we learn that he has now moved in with JP & Kingsley because the housemates he lived with were real weirdos. Oregon then joins the call and she is in a club in Laos and asks the gang if they know where Vod is. Vod then joins the call and says that she is somewhere in Vietnam after some sort of drug deal went wrong. Oregon says she will join her there but she can't find her passport and it turns out Vod has it. They all say goodbye and that's the end of the scene.
Extremely sad it's over even though series 4 was definitely the worst of the entire show. Seems like it was just kinda quickly mashed together to churn out a quick ending. I'm definitely glad it got a proper farewell though. Now I don't know what british series to watch. Any suggestions?
Struggled through the final six, with the first being very poor and colouring my expectations for the other 5, although they were better than I expected.
It ended it, which is the most you can really say, descending into laboured, painful farce in many instances.
A series that was past its prime and rightly needed to be put to rest.
The JP/Josie storyline made no sense at all and just seemed to have been thrown in as an acceptable resolution to something that just didn't work.
Maybe the rush was down to the actors conflicting schedules, they will all be doing other work from their already established reputations and finishing off a dead series that would no longer provide further work was just a pay cheque, same for the writers.
A shame but mediocre, unnoteworthy and overall - meh.
