Fiennes robbed of an Oscar nod.

Unlike the poster who regards him as annoying I think he is a splendid actor - he was robbed of an Oscar by Tommy Lee Jones' so-so performance in The Fugitive when his hateful Goetz almost stole Schindler's List from Liam Neeson and he was brave and impressive in 'Coriolanus'. I thought he was superb in this film as evidently a slew of local film critics did, putting him up for their awards. Ryan Gosling is a fine actor as he showed in 'Half Nelson' and the wholly under-rated 'The Ides of March' but 'La-La Land' is not his best performance despite some nifty hoofing and he and Ms Stone are not really amongst the best players of the last twelve months, being carried along by the over-indulgent reaction to the pleasant but not exactly earth-shattering 'La La Land'. To me Fiennes' showing in 'A Bigger Splash' was one of the stand-out male performances of the year.
