Tilda swinton was great in this

Loved her.

Yes, but then again, I always love her. I've been a fan of Matthias since "Rust & Bone" and he hasn't disappointed me yet. Even Dakota Johnson was solid in this. But the wonderful Ralph Fiennes was the stand out in my opinion, and not just because he had the loudest, flashiest role. His presence was just incandescent. Almost like an older Jude Law in "The Talented Mr. Ripley."

SPOILERS:

Once he's gone, you just miss him too much. But thankfully, he wasn't killed in the first half of the film.

Without you, today's emotions would be the scurf of yesterday's.

I agree. Despite the minimal amount of dialogue her character had, she still did a great job. The film overall was excellent as well.

She always is. Even in a disaster like this, she's the only redeeming factor: I immediately had this feeling in the first Venice clip for the film, which she stole without saying a word. The film only comes to life on her facial expressions. She's always so natural, magnetic and genuinely compelling: I felt I was watching a different movie when the camera was focusing on her- even if she wasn't moving nor speaking a word- rather than Fiennes's hammy antics, Schoenaerts's sleepwalking turn and Johnson's nothingness. Thanks goodness for her.

I think this TIFF tweet perfectly captures my feelings:

Agreed. She is very cool. Great actress.

This movie was a hot mess, but I could watch Tilda all day. Her voicelessness made her even more watchable.
