The Mexican Rocky? Not too bad a movie

The budget is low, and some of the acting is a little rough.

But all the basic elements of a decent movie are here. Plotting, script, dialogue, conflict, suspense, cinematography, character development, directing, etc. All there at a decent level.

The movie plot is much the same as Stallone's Rocky, except add in the hispanic SoCal/LA and mixed martial arts elements.

A rating of about 6 on the IMDB scale is about right. Decent movie. It is a watchable movie, and there are lots of movies that are not watchable.

With a career outside of Cinema, I am unable to comment professionally about the acting and other related technical aspects of the film, but I enjoyed watching it as I have some close friends who are professional fighters. The story of the fighter's family, and his personal struggles when accepting a big fight can be taxing for both, and I appreciate the way the screenwriter(s) presented this struggle. It seemed more honest than I was expecting. I'll recommend the film to my friends in the fight game.

Hat's off to the leading lady, well done Sadie!

You should go watch Rocky again and correct this post. This movie was terrible, Rocky was not.
