This thing drags on and on. panning shots for 30s, disjointed story line, characters that we only see in a set up scene but propably had subsequent scenes cut.
If you love horses and anything by the main actor, you will be happy. The rest of you can stay home....
I really liked the film and found it beautiful, thought provoking and moving. I was never bored at all. You said that unless you like horses and Mads, stay away. I think it may have been better to say if you only like blockbuster action films stay away.
I thought about this for several days about his actions and "stubbornness?" and what it cost him in the end. Was it worth it? I don't know.
Also, you didn't say this, but I have read people commenting that this was taken from The Jack Bull, but actually that film was taken from the story about Michael Kohlhaas.
I didn't find it pretentious or artsy, it was just a good story from so many years ago.
Different people have different tastes in movies, as in anything else. Many people seem to have trouble grasping that concept.
