Aack. Forgettable Christian proselytizing. Beware.

There were aspects of the story I liked, but it isn't special by ANY means. Very forgettable... and too much proselytizing for my comfort. If you aren't into Christian proselytizing... or if you are not a Christian, it might just be too much "Jesus" and not enough "good story" for you.

I will say the religious bit was mostly toward the end. Up until then, it was predictable, but sometimes I like to see how a filmmaker unfolds a story. I was ready for one of these kinds of stories... until the religious parts kept coming in.

SPOILER!!
About the AA program: I never was an alcoholic, so I don't know if they ONLY talk about a "higher power" or if some of them cite "Jesus" specifically, as they did in this film. I DID like how one character talks about how she learned that God isn't that angry, judgmental chap just waiting to pounce on and punish her. That was good. But there really was too much religion in the last part of this film for me. Kind of ruined it.

You know what they say... no one with missing teeth wears an Armani suit.

Why do you have such a problem with Christianity

I made it halfway through the movie. I don't really like the proselytizing either but apparently Vivica's facial expressions are even more annoying than that. I disliked her overacting in 1-800-MISSING too so now I just need to avoid anything she's in.

ABOUT AA
I'm not an alcoholic either, but I went to a few Al-Anon meetings. The "higher power" belief is HUGE in all the meetings. One person there had a problem with the "god" of the Bible so the group leader suggested that her higher power could be anything, including a door knob. I never really got into attending meetings regularly. I have met many people that attend meetings every single day and that's fine if it works, but none of the ones I know have a life *outside* those meetings. I believe that anything that takes away one's sense of responsibility for their own life, regardless if it's a bottle of alcohol, blaming an alcoholic or worshipping a doorknob, is just trading one addiction for another one.

You prefer your proselytizing to be more inline with secular values, I see.

Don't make it sound like it's proselytizing that you have an issue with.... it's just a certain type of proselytizing that gets you.

But, the movies you probably enjoy, since you don't like the views their pushing, you don't notice it as much.... but it's there.
