IMDb User Rating Algorithm

I don't understand why users only gave a median rating = 6 and even more confused why the IMDb algorithm reduces that to 4.6. I gave an 8 rating. The movie seemed to achieve exactly what it intended and did a great job. I really enjoyed this story. Another movie rating Web site lists quite a few critics giving nice kudos to The Happy Sad.

I gave the movie an 8 also. I really liked it. For a while I wondered where is the Happy but it was there. The order was more like Sad Happy than Happy Sad.
