what was point of 3D printed gun??

I don't get t. If it was just to kill Ciro why a 3D printed gun. Nobody patted him down and if it was to get pass security checks he surely have gotten a gun of an gang rival. I always been thought the whole point of 3D printed guns was to fool metal detectors at airports...am I missing something.

reply

It was to fool the metal detector at the airport. It even showed him picking up his case from the baggage collection.

reply

And do you remember the scene in the hotel room's bathroom where he washes the bullet? That's because the bullet was of metal and he had swallowed it before taking off.

reply

No, The bullet was hidden inside a tube of toothpaste which it showed Genny cutting open and cleaning the toothpaste from the bullet. As for the 3d gun, he had to take it through the airport and couldnt get a gun at the meeting point because both men were being watched and protected by the older don who Ciro had gone to visit to set up the meet.

reply

Ah now I get it. Both parties had assured security, hence the gun...thanks

reply

What others said, plus it's untraceable, easy to dismantle after use and dispose of.

reply

That bit didn't make sense. If Genny were to fire the gun at the airport I would've understood it but not otherwise. He had henchmen with him around the hotel. They could have easily lent him a gun, couldn't they?

It felt a bit like a filler to buy some time plot-wise

reply

Didn't make sense to me too...
Remember Ciro going to Spain? He got the whole bag of stuff from the guy in the bathroom.

Even the meeting was in Triest, Savastino probably had their people all over the country. The gun could have been planted anywhere...
