What happened to the ipad?

I guess the father invented it since he had to have taken it back to 2000 with him...because if he left it there, it would've been invented in 1946.

It would not exist because erol would never had taken it back in time because as soon as the father decides to return back to the year 2000, everything that happened in the future no longer existed including erol going back in time

I can buy that, but still Erol showed it to his dad which still causes a ripple effect, however small.

What if his dad now decides to create that device and Apple never does?

I was kind of hoping that somebody had seen him using the iPad and mugged him in order to get it from him. An iPad would be worth quite a lot in 1946 (at least until the battery ran down -- and to the right people, even after that).

It also would make a satisfying ironic twist to find out that Erol himself delivered the motivation for his father's murder (chicken and egg problems notwithstanding).
