I was disappointed by this one

I'm a big time Coen fan. They're my favorite directors. I'm sure there are things "to get" in this film just like in any of their films, but this one just felt kind of empty. It felt melancholic and the humor didn't really redeem it for me. But! It was great to see Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan kind of against themselves in this film. In Drive (2011) they had a very different attitude with each other. This is most definitely good, but I don't find anything too special about it.

It is a character study and road movie with good performances, great direction and excellent music, but it's one of the Coen brothers' lesser films in my opinion. I appreciate the effort here, but I would have preferred a bit more story and momentum. 7/10 stars from me.

Dreary disappointing movie about a totally unlikable mediocre musician with bland songs and no direction. He is a lazy bum and everyone in his life is angry. I don't think they used the F word back then as much as they did in this sad depiction of the folk clubs of the '60s.

I absolutely thought something
would happen, then the end credits rolled. Not impressed by this - at all.
