The most specific open ending...

It seems (to me anyway) that unless you sit on the fence, by the end of this film you fall in to two categories. Those who think that LLewyn will make it as a musician and those who don't. What I like about the film is along the journey there are many clues and hints that people pick up on or interpret differently to come to their own conclusions.

Personally I don't think Llewyn will make it as a musician. I think that his time of singing folk songs that are old covers is shown to come to an end with the arrival of Bob Dylan. The man who brought in a new era of singer song writers who wrote their own songs. Llewyn's vicious cycle of being a bit withdrawn and introverted so he misses opportunities which makes him more withdrawn and introverted and so on certainly doesn't help him.

Any other people got any thoughts on the Llewyn's outcome?

I Sympathise with Lars Von Trier.

I see it as the opposite. The times is there that night and llewyn is gonna be part of the folk boom. The guy he's based off had a great career.

reply

Yes, nice thought.
He might very well get swept along with the coming folk boom, or he might be left out of it.

There are two types of people--those who fit everyone else into two categories, and winners.

i thought he had missed his opportunity for success as he was a terrible person. the arrival of dylan represented the end for llewyn
