Bad But Not THAT bad

If you're a fan of the found footage ghost movie genre, it's not THAT bad. I've seen worse movies (or parts because I turned them off). Paranormal Entity is a better Asylum movie in a similar vein. Don't pay for this movie, but if you're in the mood for this sort of movie, it's not that horrible.

If things like bad acting bother you, you shouldn't be looking at an Asylum film in the first place.

This movie is not only that bad, it's worse. Avoid this at all costs, it is one worthless and dul scene after another.

Lol that's true, I watch not for the acting but to see if they capture a cool ghostly mood well... I thought Atrocious was literally atrocious. Grave Encounters is one of th best found footage films to there.

All these movies are trying to capture lightning in a bottle, and they lack creativity or inspiration so they fail miserably, they feel forced.. Trying to do what Paranormal Activity 1 did... So many bad ones, so few good ones, but I keep watchin me and hoping...

A few scenes in this were potentially good, but wounded by the poor acting, like the closet slamming, the son's scream sounded so fake it dilutes the scene.

I would agree. It's bad, but not that bad. I sure as hell wasn't expecting anything good, but it didn't scrape the bottom of the barrel entirely. The audio & video were good. Good HD quality here. The acting, not so much. I'll be honest, when the dad started losing his sanity towards the end, I couldn't stop laughing. And when the "ghosts" started appearing, I was a little creeped out but the acting in those scenes was so laughable it took away any genuine creepyness there could have been. And I have to say, even though it is a NO budget movie, doing the "corrupt video" effect was cheap and lame. It was a total cop out.

My advice, if you like these kind of movies, just watch it and see for yourself. Or, be like me and just have it on in the background. It's harmless white noise at that point.

And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make.

Basically I found the ghost stuff creepy, but the family's bad acting and being annoying was bothering me, but I agree that the dad going all drill sergeant at the end cracked me up.

Overall, I'd say I've seen much worse, and maybe I'll watch this again if I have absolutely nothing else to watch.

This movie is without a doubt one of the worst, if not THE worst movie I have ever seen.

It's not the worst movie I have ever seen, but it is the worst Asylum film I've seen.

I actually like most of the Asylum's output (I even thought Paranormal Entity was on a par with Paranormal Activity) but The Amityville Haunting is just unbelievably bad.

The acting, the writing, the plot, the, well, everything are shameful. The sound crew did an acceptable job as did the catering team I'm sure but none of what made it on to the screen was even up to Asylum standard.

I watched this film to the end only out of some kind of warped spite. It tricked me into watching it in the first place so goddamnit I was going to watch to the end.

After honestly thinking about it for a few minutes, I've determined that this actually is the worst movie I have ever seen.

This movie is so bad, it makes 'Manos: The Hands of Fate' look like 'The Shining'.

I liked this film actually! I went into this film expecting absolutely nothing (I've seen other Amityville films like 'Amityville Curse' THAT was really awful).
But this one wasn't bad, it dragged in places and that 'drill sargeant dad' bit was funny and too campy).

But I'm a huge fan of the *found footage* genre, so I liked it in that vein.
It actually scared me!

It wasn't a great movie, but it could've been a lot worse. Some of the acting honestly wasn't good at all and it had a lot of boring parts, but it had a few creepy moments that made it worth finishing at least and I think were memorable. I've seen a lot worse movies.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

I found comedy in the movie. The dad could not act at all but I laughed my ass off every time he took the screen. I think people took this movie way too serious. Maybe it's just me but I excepted below average and the movie delivered.

I liked the ending. *spoilers ahead* I put the subtitles on, and it *catches* some very quiet dialogue. Once I realized the little girl had joined the evil, and you hear the demon(s) cackling quietly...makes your skin crawl!

I agree the film was slow at times & the dad's acting was mostly terrible.
But the rest of the cast did well, especially the child actors.
The effects were eerie too, given the budget.
