Saddened state of a current affair

The state of our news channels and broadcasts is appalling. Absolutely appalling. Do we really need sex to sell any and all products? Do we really need to broadcast celebrity news or irrelevantly humdrum events on a national level?
It saddens me that our news now tries to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Why must we market news broadcast to the unintelligent masses with short attention spans anyway? Surely seeking ongoing knowledge and keeping ones self aware of world events is a smart mans game anyway.

I fear/weep for the future. I'm only 25, and I can't even begin to imagine the future state of such things when I'm in my senior years.
