I actually think the best parts of this were..

.. Him "teaching in the classes". The dialogue and deeper meaning of his convos are brilliant.

I agree that they were quite interesting and it's good to see a professor of literature actually lecturing quite a deal in a film, though we never see him actually marking any work, which would also be a large component of the job. I think one of the film's big weaknesses however is that there doesn't seem to be much explanation for why he is, like he is. What made the son/grandson of the 17th richest man in California, so addicted to gambling such huge sums of money?🐭

I agree!

In fact the classes's dialog made a big difference and also dialog with Goodman's and Omar's characters.

I was suprise by the movie. Nothing special, but Whalberg is charismatic and the overall movie was entertaining.

I liked way way way more then the last movies I saw since the beginning of the year.

Taken 2
Taken 3
Big Game
Pound Of Flesh
Triloquist

I thought the dialog was over the top and pretentious for ENGLISH 101. A basketball player isn't going to be in an advanced English class if all he wants is an easy grade to stay eligible. His whole philosophical diatribes were way overdone.

Somehow, I prefer over the top et pretentious dialog then stuff I heard thousand time and that bring nothing much.

I agreed that his philosophical diatribes were overdone, but it gave some qualities to the movie which at first, I was not even interested to watch !!
