You're not the only one indeed. I wanted Cusack to shoot the director too...I was also annoyed by the product placement - and well, how unrealistic the movie was in general.

shareI enjoy seeing Cusack, but would never watch a movie just because he's in it, so maybe I'm not the right person to ask. His acting is the most decent when it comes to this film (you mostly just hear him, not see him), but I don't think it was enough to salvage this below-mediocre film. He does help create tension in the movie, however, if you can claim there is tension to be found.
