Virtuoso Pianist who Doesn't Use PEDALS??

Did anybody else notice throughout the entire performance his feet were flat on the floor nowhere near the PEDALS? In any kind of advanced virtuoso piano playing, the pedals are being used constantly. Too many laughable unrealistic scenes detract from any real suspense. It feels more like a comedy of errors.

what i find much more amusing is the fact that people like you point out such minor flaws, when the film has so much bigger logic errors. like the one guy that is criticizing that the piano is wrongly placed, apart from other things.

doesn't it really bother you muuuuuuch more, that we are presented with the concept of an unbreakable safe, that is built into a piano, whose lock can only be opened, by a) playing a certain song perfectly until a certain point, at which additional hidden keys appear, which are needed to complete the song perfectly, at which the safe opens and the treasure falls out?
really?
and what about the fact, that cusack did through all that trouble, yes even kill the last guy that messed up the song, instead of just stealing the piano? it is a piano for christs sake. yes, it is a very rare and expensive piano, but still it would not have high security, because who in their right mind would steal a piano?

oh and not to forget, why the hell go through the risk of actually KILLING two peope for no apparent reason? the henchman could have just chloroformed them. so, overall they had at least 3 murders on their account, but yet are not ruthless enough to just steal that stupid thing?

There never were any hidden keys, the key shooter was reffering to was that hidden metal key, which would drop out after the sequence is played. It´s play with words, where key can be a thing to open the lock and piano key.

ah, ok. still, if the key was in the piano and the "unbreakable safe" was somewhere else, that still leaves all of my points valid. don't get me wrong, i like the film quite a lot, but in retrospect it is utterly absurd.

The lack of pedal use is hardly a "minor flaw". But what can I expect from someone who calls a concerto a "song."

.. he said with his pinky finger spread wide, while wearing a woolen hat and scarf in bright summer. xD

I saw the pedal thing and I spit. Then Grendel appeared and he looked like he wanted to bust open some piano-safes, but, uh, no. I told Grendel to relax his stack and stay way back. A Lot of that was rhyming involved.

On set the piano was let loose. I actually came just from leaning on it. I don't think the piano is the BEST percussion instrument, but it's reliable.

Long story short. Me, here now.

Awesome. That is art. Can I have your babies?

I didn't care, despite the fact that I'm a professional musician who has been playing piano and other instruments for over 40 years, because unlike you, I'm not a realism fetishist.

It does make it seem like the film crew didn't know or care how a piano works. It sounds lazy, but I haven't seen the film.
Are there any one handed guitarists, or violins played with feet? :D

the sheet music, and the placement of the piano, the conductor's speech in between movements.......
