How to stop the reboots, sequels, remakes...etc

You wanna know how we can stop Hollywood from making reboots, how about we stop going to movies. If everyone just decided hey the old film never needed to be remade. What are they thinking over there? Or that film ended on a perfect note, there is no need to expand on the story. Even more important, this character does not need a new actor and story.

Where is the creativity?

It is now starting to getting really annoying.

Hey Warner Brother, Hey Paramount, Hey Fox, sorry Sony but you don't deserve a hey...How about hiring some novelists or tv writers to create something new for all of us. Because I can tell you eventually making remakes, reboots and sequels is just going to get old.

I have a better idea: how about we all keep watching the movies we want to see. I have a hunch that's what everyone is going to do anyways. Feel free to miss out on great movies just because they're remakes, reboots or sequels.

reply

If they were great movies, I might agree with you. But the truth is, very few of these remakes/reboots/sequels are good at all. They are simply brand recognition products that get pumped out as quickly as possible because the studios/producers know that they can make a buck off of people willing to watch a movie just because it has a recognizable title, not because it's great.

reply

Amen brother!! I think some people just feel the need to complain about something.

reply

Wasn't complaining but ok. Just trying to start a debate over the how Hollywood has lost its creativity and originality.

What you complaining about?

"I know where I came from—but where did all you zombies come from?"

reply

Or how about we have a civil debate. At least that is what I want. It is my belief that creativity and originality no longer exist in Hollywood. Just look a Force Awakens it is a copy of A New Hope. Coming up with new stories is what keeps people interested and helps promote other peoples creativity. When you have the same old stories people tend to get bored.

As for Flatliners maybe making a sequel over twenty years later is a good thing for those who saw the original in theaters. Though I would not be surprised if this movie bombs.

It is my belief that creativity and originality no longer exist in Hollywood.

A tiny fraction (probably much less than 1%) of movies each year are remakes, while the rest are original movies, of which there are hundreds made in Hollywood alone. To say there is no originality and creativity is such an outrageous exaggeration and downright false.
Just look a Force Awakens it is a copy of A New Hope.

In what way is it a copy? It's a completely different story with different characters.

Again, if you don't like the remakes, simply don't watch them. I personally enjoy many of them. Off the top of my head, The Departed is one of my favorite movies and Mad Max was great as well, both of which are remakes. Plus I see you gave The Magnificent Seven a rather high rating of 8 stars. Apparently no one told you that is a remake!

reply

Mad Max isn't a remake, it's the fourth film in a series (maybe you can call it a reboot, but even that is debatable, because a reboot normally isn't a part of the original movie universe). The Departed was a really good movie, with good actors, a good director and so on, most remakes simply aren't. I personally wouldn't call Force Awakens a remake of New Hope, but it does reuse loads and loads of elements from New Hope and the story is actually quite the same simple Good Rebellion vs. Evil Overly Powerful Empire story. I really do like A New Hope, but from a story point of view it was never that great to begin with, it was a way too simple good vs. bad story.

The OP does have a point. Ghostbusters remake just sucked, Spider Man gets the 3rd reboot within 15 years, Fantastic Four reboot was rushed out so Marvel couldn't claim the license back (and failed miserably), Evil Dead remake must have been the worst movie I have seen in cinemas for the last few years (actually taking the title from the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and so on.

reply

There are some bad reboots and there are some good reboots, just as there are plenty of bad original movies and good original movies. It wouldn't make sense to call for the end of all original movies just because you saw one you didn't enjoy, just as it's nonsensical to say all reboots need to stop just because you can name some you personally didn't enjoy. Ultimately, nothing you say will make me unexcited for the Flatliners reboot.

reply

I agree with OP through and through

reply

The original film wasn't very good anyway. I think a sequel shot by a much more talented director could only do the story good.

reply

Well said OP

All about money the mighty dollar, you will never be able to stop remakes. The only thing is to do like me ignore them pretend they where never made.

There are remakes that are good to decent and even better but for most part they all suck.

I am at the point i start to laugh when i see a remake for a very bad movie hahah.

reply

its because a lot of people are going online and watching these movies bootlegged and losing out on that money that would be coming in if it were not for the illegal websites.

thats why there are so many remakes nowadays. (yes amongst some original films here and there)

reply

AMEN! i'm really sick of them myself. Have we lost all of our imagination for the sake of quick profits.

reply

When I see the crap Hollywood come up with, that are mostly super hero sht and "Oscars" material. And call it NEW. I'm fine with them reimagining old successes.
