I get it, female gangster movies are appalling but...

This movie has some neat little tricks-in the VERY first scene when LuLu comes out of the bathroom, you see that it's Shae in the reflection of the round mirror. If you watch the movie knowing that LuLu represents Shae's rage for things she's buried deep within (that LuLu lies and says never happened) then you can appreciate the movie for what it's attempting to say. Yes,it's violent and horrible but its easy to say "if a guy killed a bunch of girls, this movie would be vilified. Unfortunately men haven't been violated by women generally/historically speaking-it's been the opposite. For instance, when a man whistles and yells things on the street to get a woman's attention, again generally speaking-it's embarrassing and intimidating. We carry that around forever, so yes-this movie says "what if" in a very extreme and violent way. Not condoning it, I'm just saying it can be appreciated if viewed for what it is.

Nice pick-up!

I have to disagree with some other things you wrote, however. First, if it had been about a guy killing a bunch of girls, it wouldn't have been any different. The reason people are bothered by the movie isn't because it's a girl killing guys, but rather the blatant gender hatred in the movie. I'm sure you can find lot's of movies with one gender killing lot's of members of the other, but they're not centered around gender hatred.

My other disagreement is that a woman shouldn't be embarrassed if a guy whistles at her on the street. I'm not saying that she should like it and I know that many women are embarrassed by it, but guys are paying them a compliment when they do it. It's even been the scene of commercials touting women's beauty products. I can understand why a woman might feel intimidated by it, but the point generally is not to intimidate, but compliment.

It's NOT a compliment. It's harassment. Women are not on the street for your entertainment. Their bodies and faces aren't public property for you to comment on. This is Feminism 101.

As if someone gives a *beep* about feminism.

A compliment is a compliment "you look great" -a "wolf whistle" accompanied by lewd gestures and/or words is not so much. The original comment said not just a whistle. A woman understands the difference. The level to which someone would objectify someone else is where the original commenter was going.
