It was a good entertainment. It's the type of movie you should watch on a weekend after a hard week of work.

I'm thinking the generic Chinese characters dressed in ridiculous armor and the CGI monsters are more likely to ruin the film.

Matt is the only reason this movie makes any money.

Pretty much no one knows who Matt Damon is in China. Andy Lau (Strategist Wang) is like a rock start there. In fact, he IS a rock star and has been for decades.

This movie made very little money in the USA, but in China, it made a ton. And that's because of Zhang Yimou and Andy Lau being so famous, not Matt Damon.

I agree. I'm so impressed with Matt's character choices. He's showing great range. I used to not take him seriously but since Matt has accomplished an Oscar nom for The Martian and now this film is a good role, I think Matt has definitely become a serious lead actor.
