3.8?

OK, this is a crappy film, but isn't the rating a bit harsh? I'm not a big fan of this film and I didn't enjoy it too much, still I didn't fall asleep while watching it, didn't get angry after watching it, just thought nothing of it.
There are so many s#@%ty ones around much worse than this. Looks like I have a high tolerance for this particular film. :-)

it was unbearably and miserably pathetic film.even the previous part 1 too.both directors must be shot at point blank.

reply

Hahaha, yeah, sure, I understand. Would you also care to shoot Steve Sessions (for creating 'Sinister') and whoever directed 'Snuff' (1976)??? :-P

reply

Why did you even watch it if you hated the first one?

reply

because i thought that they got criticism on part-1 and might be they made something better.

reply

Because he wanted something to bitch about.

Why is everyone so tough on this film?!! It was MUCH better than Part I, this one actually had a story!

The ending sequence was quite different than usual, I liked that a LOT!

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

i am not saying that this topic is sacred and bla bla bla,but there are some topics which remain colorful in it's own and old colors, adding technological advancements and special effects and above all the participation of less knowledge directors who want to poke their nose in every topic - all makes this unbearable.

look at exorcism of emily rose, the exorcist.and then this crap film series.you will note the hell of difference in the story writing, cinematography and direction.

this is just like a kid of today stands up and says he has seen the WW2.

*SPOILER*

Really? They put in so much emphasis on Nell's new life and those that are around her, then all of sudden, the movie changes into a complete different one. The *attempted* exorcism was unexplained, rushed and performed by people from another cult? The plot holes in the movie are the ones you cannot ignore.

The first movie had huge potential and it's revolving around Christianity, faith and it had context. Although the ending was criticized it is still a pretty interesting concept in the 'hand held camera reality show' style. But unfortunately the 2nd movie is really as someone above mentioned: they took the horrid ending from first and carried on using this failed element to make this 2nd movie.

I think the reason the film used another cult to exorcise was because the Christian one appeared to have failed.
While I liked that premise, using a different religion, I didn't like the presentation & introduction to it. It seemed awkward & almost came out of nowhere.
We see the woman take some of Nell's hair, presumably for a fetish, but not much after that.
Suddenly, boom, they are doing an exorcism of their own?! No explanation or discussion of the techniques beforehand?

Everybody has different tastes, so I'm not going to argue over the rate, but it's nice to know there are people who also think 3.8 is indeed a bit too low.
Like you said, maybe it depends on your expectation. Maybe so many people somehow had too much expectations, then felt like being betrayed after watching it.
Whatever the reason may be, I think if this one deserves 3.8, there are countless others that have received unfairly high rate.
Anyway, I was just amused to find out the rate this particular film received. :-)

3.9 as it stands right now is unduly harsh. Film actually had a modicum of charm and it certainly didn't end in the traditional 'exorcism-type' film way.

If this was actually that bad, then the Anthony Hopkins turd from a few years ago could handily be called the worst horror film in history.

Way too harsh. I actually (and probably stupidly) use IMDB as a gauge for what to watch when it comes to horror. This could have been a standalone movie with a tweak or two. I thought the acting was solid, it had a kind of '70's feel that I liked. Ashley Bell's tragedy was nicely played. The supernatural was low key but I didn't mind that because they used the actors rather than CGI and it was about building tension rather than out and out gore or revealing the monster. It had some fab jump scares. Only criticism is that the ending felt rushed, and the video game last scene was completely incongruous with the preceding atmosphere. Will give it a more decent rating to see if I can bump it up a bit!

It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!

Well, it's up to 3.9 now, so I guess that's progress. I just gave it 6/10. This isn't a very good film, but I at least found it moderately entertaining in a genre that I constantly seek out but frequently leaves me cold.
