It's all about profiling

I've combed all the threads of this title and all seem to have glossed about the center point of the film; profiling. Racial, but most often cultural profiling.

This is a sin that most countries and communities are guilty of. It's technically called xenophobia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenophobia.

As a national of a different country, residing in his own land, I've been often (when visiting other countries) been a subject of profiling, albeit not always hostile. I'm also aware that we (....) are one of the most xenophobic countries on the surface of the earth. However, being widespread doesn't make it good, or even justifiable.

This film is all about how xenophobia drives the subjects of it towards extreme actitudes and actions. Can Americans really be so naive as to ignore how their country's foreign policies have brought the world's contempt and despise upon them? Can they really deem themselves as the moral rulers of the world? I know they are the economic rulers but culturally?

As long as we are pakis, kikes, spics, greasers, russkies, chinks, japs, ragheads, spades, gringos, etc. we're a long, long way from a global community.

BTW, take a look at the Roman empire. It lasted some 500 years in power; the British about 300 years. The USA have been the 2nd~3d millenium Roman empire for 150 years. Beware!

The film doesn't show profiling, that's part of its point. It shows random harrasment of a Pakistani man just because he was a Pakistani man. The only time when an element of profiling reared its head was when he was asked if he'd been to the Phillipines.

Had profiling been used then resources would have been better directed.

Of course profiling can be used to further racism and xenophobia but its aim was to single out who poses risk based on a profile rather than because they are members of a paticular racial or religious group.

Movement ends, intent continues;
Intent ends, spirit continues

It's not racial profiling. It's trend analysis.

You're just seeing what you want to see in it yourself.🐭
