classic mentor/disciple syndrome

I'm really disgusted by the way this movie was directed.... it first starts out like a comedy, and all the way towards the end the girls are laughing inappropriately, acting moronic and cliche. it's offensive! Unrealistic. Horrific. Coulda been a great movie.

And obviously BETH was a sociopath. And sandra was the disciple, weak and formed an unhealthy bond with her sister. Its the only real part of the film. When people get together in pairs, or groups, its much easier to committ crimes of the worst kind. Scares me actually. Its the mob mentality... and this movie reflects whats going on in todays youth. We are breeding sociopaths, narcissists, money hungry but educated intelligent and internet using kids. All about money, technology, and obsession with PERFECT?? perfect mothers? i could go on and on... theres ALOT of help out there for those who are willing to get it. Real love is sticking together and giving your loved ones an ultimatum if they are unwilling to comply leave and BUILD YOUR OWN LIFE if you can't help someone who is self destructive. these girls had more than kids in third world countries ever will, yet they complained that they had it bad. There are people who are healthy survivors who got through their abusive home life and childhood and they made something of themself its called taking control and taking responsibility for your actions. people in worse cases than this movie showed. These girls were almost 18 years old they knew right from wrong. And just because they were pretty white girls with a fancy lawyer and played the victims, they got a light sentence. no wonder the world is screwed up...

I took the movie with a grain of Salt. Since it's from the girl's point of view. It seems to me they killed the Mom for $ and just needed an "excuse". I am disgusted they are out and attending University.

Their mom was going no where in life even if she tried... and it was taking her family down with her, the daughters weren't happy, made them crazy/scociopaths, clearly an acceptable way of getting a short sentence.

Wrong the mother had two job pay for riding lesson for daughters and pay for the Poland trips her daughters went on to see other family members and that the mother was saving money for her daughters college and there was no abusive boyfriends and the sisters weren't abused.

the sisters kill their mother for money so they could buy a marijuana farm.

Lara Croft Himiko! The First Sun Queen! This is Yamatai.

I think you're having an issue separating the true story from the movie. This conversation is about the movie, fictional as it may be. Not the real people and actual events.

It wasn't 'just' a light sentence. The judge says he gave the maximum allowable sentence for minors. If you don't like the sentence, move to Canada and vote to have the law changed.

I also thought it had a lot of inappropriate laughter during the murder planning scenes in particular. But, with this age group, teens sometimes find morbid things to be funny or else use laughter to deflect any real feelings when it is something that makes them uncomfortable or feel uneasy.

I don't know how true to life this movie is and several comments on this board state it is filmed from the girls' point of view. With that being said, I find it sad the girls felt they had no anchor in their world. Their mother was absent emotionally while she was drinking and their dad told them he had another family now. What parent deserts their children and tells them they have another family? I am not saying this gives an excuse for what they did but I just find it so sad and the girls must have felt lost. Their actions certainly prove they were lost and bereft of any empathy for their own mother.

Wow, dude, you obviously have loads of issues yourself, starting with all the projection.
You clearly have been manipulated in that disciple role.

How was Beth a sociopath? She suffered the most, and she held it together after the murder.

Also, they got the FQQQING MAXIMUM SENTENCE, how's that a slap on the wrist. Did time for 4 and 5 years, it's not hard, but not a lot of fun.
