couple of spoiler questions

We know she was really talking to the ex and communicating with a legit account because we see them video chatting, plus they'd were on each other's social media lists before the husband even knew who he was. After she contacted the ex to say they shouldn't communicate anymore, she received an almost immediate reply saying 'no I can't live without you' or something to that effect. It seemed to be implied that she also received further harassing messages from his number, and it was only after she blocked the number that she started getting messages from other numbers.
So, my quesiton is, were these early unwanted messages actually from the ex? In particular, the 'I can't live without you' one certainly seemed to be. Unless the husband had already made a cloned account of the ex and sent it from there, banking that she wouldn't realise there was no historic message thread - heck, she might not even have opened it.

Second question - and much shorter one - what was with the break in? Did the husband pay someone to do it? Or was it just an extraordinary co-incidence that played right in to the husband's hands?! Or was that the ex for real?!
