They should have gone for an unknown actor. His presence is too distracting. It took me out of the movie. It's like "oh, Brad Pitt just showed up! And he's the white savior :/
If you want to tell one of your A-list producers who, along with his production company Plan B, help to get this film wide release, that he can't play whatever role he wants to, be my guest .

Meh he was the producer and obviously wanted his face included in the film. If you're paying for it they're not really gonna say no are they?
The point is as a producer, it's his job to get investors for the movie. Apparently, his being in the film (albeit for a minor role), is what helped him do so.
Even if he did choose that role, I don't blame him considering he has a Black child. If he has the wherewithal to choose, that's his prerogative.
