Could somebody recommend some darker bluegrass artists

I love the music in this film and I'm looking for bands that could be classified as "gothic bluegrass" (I have discovered some favorites: early 16 Horsepower, Uncle Sinner, Six Feet to the Pine), but I wanna find more, maybe not as dark as those examples, but still raw and exploring existential/sadness themes.

Hi, George. I highly recommend the The Greencards. They've gotten a bit away from more traditional bluegrass like their first two or three albums, but they're a dark Americana. Most of their songs are filled with death, loss, separation, and longing and often using water as a heavy presence.

The Long Hill Ramblers, a newer Sussex-based bluegrass band, might also be of interest to you. Their recent album Beauty and Butchery is aces, examining the life and death and the journey we take in both.

Check out Crooked Still. Not all are dark but they have some great haunting songs. The rest is just good bluegrass
