Loved the Children in the Film

A lot of the time you get children portrayed as moody, ingrate, hate the world and no respect for the parents type but here they're smart (not smart-@ss), independent and lonely yet happy and full of love. I loved it when the niece was trimming her uncle's hair and was saying how she's never done that before, not even with dolls! made me laugh :)

Yes, the children were altogether very well done. That scene with the haircut (including the barrettes in Scott's hair HA!) do make it obvious that there was an element of improvisation in the children's scenes, which added to the charm and authenticity.

Did you notice that the little girl, Gracie, was in a series of self created costumes throughout the film? Playing dress up they called it my day. That was also a charming aspect.

There is no doubt that the best scenes in the film were of Scott interacting with the children.

It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it. RIP Roger Ebert

They were darling. I loved the scene when Charles was telling Scott about his stage fright and he calmed him. I also noticed how Gracie was always dressed up. I loved the entire movie but the kids made it worth watching.
