Would less people have died if they just flew to the nearest airport?

He said the nearest airport was 90 minutes away. 90/20 = 4, so at most, 4 people would have died. But of course he is Liam Neeson which is what makes this movie kickass!

I thought he said the nearest was Halifax which was 25 minutes away. Not enough time to stop the first death but they would've landed long before the bomb went off. Airlines usually take death threats pretty seriously. Carrying on and assuming it was a prank was so far-fetched.

Less people would have died if they just turned off the network and not played the terrorists' game.

Then the guy with the phone would have blown up the plane in mid-flight. He didn't care about the money and proving that TSA was not secure enough would be good enough for him.
