There's nothing funny about identity theft.

The premise of the movie is bad. There's nothing funny about identity theft.

The premise of the movie is bad.

Why on Earth did you go see it then?!?! Not very smart.

I agree. I just felt bad for Jason Bateman's character through the whole movie. This movie made me feel really angry.

He lost a lot of sympathy when he gave his social security number over the phone like an idiot.

We need to pay more attention to the previews...

I've always been a Jason Bateman fan and I missed this movie in the theater. I was loaned the DVD and thought it would be good for a few laughs. About 30 minutes in I realized that my overriding feeling was anger.

I love comedies, I have a great sense of humor, I can be as immature as the next 15 year old... but this topic -- identify theft -- really, really, surprisingly ticked me off.

The idea of someone getting something without deserving it *and* ruining another person's life, that just ticks me off.

I know, I know -- it's a *movie*. I get it. I'm as surprised as anyone that this movie ticked me off.

So, littlebittypretty1, I sympathize with you. I couldn't even finish the movie.

They were trying but the execution was poor, the trailer turned me off too it and was accurate.

There is nothing funny about ANY movie subject. Period. I recommend you stay away from any movie house and sell your tv set. Because it's not just comedies man, nope, even big time dramas have humor in it nowadays, you're not safe anywhere!
Are you the one who said it's not funny to be shot in the duck in The Heat's board?

reply

The premise was unoriginal but had enough to bring out eventual comedic moments.
They failed because they were relying on Melissa Mccarthy's to make it funny. Sadly she is a one trick pony and very limited as an actress. So epic fail!

The fact that you know this shows that you have seen her more than once. If you didn't like her the first time why go again and again? You would have to have seen at least 3 of her films to call her a one trick pony. Just move on and watch what you do like, don't torture yourself. She certainly doesn't need your financial support.

I'm about an hour into it but only waiting for Homeland to start. It's freaking awful. Worst comedy I've seen since Hall Pass. Maybe even worse.

reply

I hated Hall Pass but for some reason I find this funny. Sure it's got awful things going on but it's so ridiculous I couldn't NOT laugh.

reply

Just about all humor, except for puns, is based on somebody's physical or emotional pain. This was not well done, but the premise could have worked.

reply

If anything, I thought the movie actually showed people how to avoid it.

Oh God. If people need this in 2 thousand freaking 13 to avoid identity theft may God help them.

Stupid post.

It's a movie. There's nothing funny about bank robberies, murders, kidnapping etc but ppl have turned those themes into comedies too.
