You People Are Unbelievable

The comments that I read on this site (and elsewhere) regarding the physical appearance of various celebrities are beneath contempt and merely enforce my opinion that the internet is the domain of mentally-deficient adolescents.

Simple rule - if you wish to disparage the physical attributes of another person you should also be obliged to first post a picture of yourself. Naked.

I hate Molly McCarthy, but her weight has absolutely nothing to do with it. I agree that her appearance having any bearing on perceptions of her abilities is wrong and immature.

i don't care about McCarthy's weight. the reason i dislike her a lot is because i find her obnoxiously annoying and totally unfunny.

I love it when people bite back about fatness although from the anger shown here BSmith was probably being ultra - sensitive. I sympathise Bsmith and get where you are coming from. Fat women are martyrs to fat haters. Melissa McCarthy is a great comedienne I think -prepared to shock and she has a unique style. She was particularly good in Bridesmaids. We haven't seen Identity Thief in the UK yet, but I expect it to be good for its genre, partly because Craig Mazin wrote it. He does a blog on screenwriting with John August (Frankenweenie/Big Fish). It is not everyone's cup of tea of course and neither is Melissa McCarthy I am sure because she probably comes over as vulgar to some. But I like that sometimes if it is done with style and great timing. She has all of that and she is not averse to making herself look bad. She is courageous and shows a level of self acceptance that is cool. She uses her talent. People who comment about her weight over her comedic skills could not do what she does. I can't do what she does. Truth is, most men would never knock big guys who are good comedians just for being big. But some people do go overboard in being rude and angry about fat women. Why the difference? Perhaps it is because we do live in a misogynistic society here in the UK and in the US ( and it is even worse in many other countries .e.g. India, Iran, Pakistan). We should know better. I think some men are afraid of big women and are trained by the fashionistas and celeb obsessed media to view every woman as a sex object and are just brought up to respond to fat with revulsion. So basically, sod off to those who attack fat comediennes rather than fat comedians. It's just fat. (Truth is, people who are fat generally really don't want to be fat, but it is so hard to get rid of. McCarthy is not actually that big either. She is also quite short. If she lost 50 1b it would impact on her comic presence quite badly. So try and enjoy her talent while you can and and look at your own looks first before commenting on others.

man, i agree with you, but you're up against the solid, immovable wall of "unjustified, anonymous internet hate". people will say some truly deplorable, gnarly stuff simply because they can do so anonymously. i would bet money that the internet is creating at least one new type of mental illness and terribly exacerbating others...

Yeah they are unbelievable, I mean, 34 million? 34 million! Was there really nothing better to do then see this dreck?
