Deserves a higher rating!

I absolutely love this film and have watched it more than 3 times. It's an original concept and a horror without blood and gore. Excellent movie and deserves at least a 7.5 rating. Lily (the younger girl) was super creepy and was excellent!

Yes.

It's one of my favorite films!

The short was excellent, but this is done really well and the acting is excellent.

No, 6.2 is about right.

It's an original idea and the characters are not what you'd normally expect from a supernatural thriller.

Still, it's just not scary, and the lack of blood and gore is replaced with too much (bad) cgi. It's decent...but..7.5?

Just out of curiosity, do you put any other horror films up on par with this one? Which ones do you think are terrible?

reply

I'd give Mama a 7-8. I like the concept, I loved the more subtle appearances of mama and I thought all of the actors were very well cast. Mama lost some of her scare factor when she appeared too clearly on-screen, but other emotions make up for the dip in fear, such as concern for the girls and even mama herself when you see her story played out.

I guess I'd put this roughly on par with The Conjuring, which I enjoyed a lot. Horror movies I watched recently which I don't think are as good: Fright Night, The Mothman Prophecies, Salem's Lot, The Howling. I believe my ratings are public anyway, if anybody is remotely interested. It's all subjective anyway.

Cool.

LOVED it too! I fast forward the parts with the rock star girlfriend when you get to know the rock star part of her. It didn't seem to even fit in the movie. That is only my opinion.

6.2 is a bit low. A 6.8-7.3 range would be perfect.
