I'm 23 and I can't wait

I seriously cannot wait for this movie...I remember seeing the trailer for the first one and thinking it looked like a great family flick and I've loved both so far. Seeing most of the tv shows and movies that kids are watching today make me cringe thinking that that is what the youth of today is being exposed to, but this is a clever story about good-natured, genuine characters. Love it!

I just saw the movie and loved it. It was very funny and thought-provoking as well. The acting and characterization were impressive.

I'm in my early twenties as well and I love these movies! Laughed so much when I went to see 'Dog Days'...laughed more than the kids did.

Ditto. I'm 25 and it's nice to see so many grown-ups here like these movies too.

I went with my brother-in-law and my sister to take my nieces to see the first movie. My oldest niece loves the book, but I had never talked to her about it and expected it to be a cheesy/cutesy kid movie. I didn't expect to love it and the second one. The third one wasn't as good as the first two IMO, but I was laughing just as hard, if not harder, than the kids in the theater.

My favorite thing is how the humor is built on awkward situations (ice cream scene, moms dancing, weird kid in class, etc.) but it's relatable and nothing feels too forced. I like how they actually have some character development and each movie focuses on a different relationship of Greg's. You can see Greg is slowly maturing, but not really anymore than you'd expect a 12/13 year old boy to be.

It honestly reminds me of stuff I watched when I was a kid, like TGIF or old school Disney and Nickelodeon. Kids got in trouble, not everybody had a cell phone, parents were actually smarter than their kids, and not everyone tried to sing and dance and become famous. Besides these movies, I literally can't find anything I can actually stand watching with my niece that is actually appropriate for her.

Did you mean to hit reply to me or the original poster?

reply

i wouldn't call myself a grown-up just yet; more confused post-grad ;) lol but i agree 100% with your post

The shows and movies they made/aired when we were growing up were more timeless (boy meets world, full house, etc.)...they focused on issues everyone goes through in life versus the trendy, superficial story lines they have now.

This series gets back to basics for kids and i really hate to see the movies go.

Still haven't seen Dog Days yet btw, can't wait for the dvd release!

I wish they made a fourth movie but I guess it won't happen, so I'm sad, and 36.
