The s bomb is allowed on Lifetime?

Since when is it allowed on network tv?

reply

When was it said? What episode and how far into the episode?

reply

Episode 3 - the "hotshot" guy who got drunk and showed up when Riley's friend altered her schedule.

reply

Since a while. I don't watch any of the other Lifetime shows, but you hear the S bomb on a lot of shows now.

Don't puke in the punch and tell me it's alphabet soup.

Happened again in episode 4 along with some other profanity which I cannot remember off the top of my head. Surprised me a little as well as I don't recall even hearing the 'S' word on Army wives...

reply

I was going to say the exact same thing. The only show I know that said the s word was Breaking Bad and I didn't know they could say that then. But, yeah I've never heard the F word on any network show without being beeped out.

reply

Southland and Sons of Anarchy use it quite liberally.
It all started with South Park.

The FCC doesn't regulate cable. They can say whatever they want, and even show nudity. The main reason basic cable networks don't push the boundaries more is because of squeamish advertisers.

Hell, Comedy Central regularly airs unbleeped F-bombs late at night, especially on weekends.

reply

Ok, but I'm watching it right now at 10:30 at night and the friend was speaking. Her lips said sh*t but the audio was something else. I could understand if it was on earlier in the evening but this was later.

And they're going through Riley's closet looking for something for her friend to wear? Like they wear the same size. WTF

I thought the same thing!!!! I was like yeah right, J Love has a tiny waist and he friend is at least a size 16. I would know these things too. ; )

reply

omg i know!! i hate when tv shows do that... its like "okay... they OBVIOUSLY dont wear the same size!" grrr... well its not like id expect this show to start being realistic now.

reply

I watch it for JLH anyway but this is better than the cheesy garbage that Lifetime used to have on.

The Lifetime movies of a few years ago where of a not too smart girl who gets involved with a guy who is mentally unbalanced and she shows her lack of brains by ignoring warning signs that there is something off about him and disregards advice from family and friends to stay away from him. Throughout the movie she defends him to the people she has known for years and its not until he goes totally psycho and holds a knife to her throat or a gun in her face that this idiot finally realizes that he is dangerous. Movies like "Mom can I dance with danger" garbage.

reply

Right, I thought the same thing. Even though I have the mouth of a sailor I *gasped* when I heard them say *beep* on lifetime!! And I have heard GD said on TNT and/or A&E before...i'm typing this quick my pc is about to die and didn't have time to read the entire thread as I'm sure this may have been discussed already. I'd rather hear the f word the entire time then GD!! Intervention is where I heard GD and sh!1 said a lot.

reply

There is no doubt now. They even had Riley dropping it twice during the alarm fiasco.

reply

I heard it last night and was shocked also. It's not network though? it's cable so they are allowed but I didn't expect it from Lifetime lol. I hear it all the time on AMC,FX and TNT but not Lifetime.

Lonely Chicago pie

reply

Wow. They really dropped the S-Bomb? I'm surprised. Have they even ever used the word "penis" at all?

reply

Lifetime is a basic cable network. So they can get away with more than your regular tv channels. They rely on advertisers to make money, so they can't push too many boundaries. Shows on cable can get away with anything though, because they don't have to rely on advertisers at all.
