Do you think Prositution should be made legal

This is not OT but very much in context of this show.Do you think prostitution should be made legal?

reply

Yes, absolutely. I couldn't believe it was illegal when I found out it was. People already have sex on film for money and that's legal. It should be safe and legal, regulated and taxed. Sort of like how parts of the US are legitimizing weed now. Unfortunately, it's not going to solve child trafficking and abuse, but it would free up the Department of Justice system a little bit and free up resources to address worse crimes.

reply

If men or women want to pay someone to have sex with them, and they are both concenting adults, there is no reason for it to be illegal. The only reason it is, is because the government can't tax it. If they could find a way to, then it would be legal.

reply

The porn company pays the men and the women to be in the film. The male does not pay the woman to have sex with her.

Yeah, because that's so much different.

reply

Yes. Give them an area to themselves in a city so that they don't have to walk the streets.

ieklein-1,
"My house isn't messy. I've simply set up obstacles for any burglars". Mind if I use this when my daughter comes to visit? It is so totally awesome.

Take a chance, flip a coin, everything is 50/50

Not at all

reply

Certainly. It's a business transaction. If you are an adult and you want to place tag on your genitalia, and you have the ability to handle whatever issues may arise, then that's your business.

reply

Why not? Marriage is legalized prostitution anyway.

reply

My first doctor told me that one of the worst things ever done was to do away with redlight districts. He said when it was regulated, the disease level was kept way down.

Legalizing it and regulating it might help do away with child trafficking, too.

But, like legalizing marijuana, it makes too much sense, so it will never happen.

Roland, that's a lilac bush!

reply

As far as I'm concerned it's already legal. Besides adult movies, what about women who have a Sugar Daddy? Are they not exchanging sexual favors for money? What about all the other women who get men to buy them stuff and get money off of men, but happen to also service them sexually?

Yet somehow prostitution is illegal. If it were legalized I think STD's would go down, cities could make more money, child prostitution would go down, and so would pimping on the streets. I went to a big-time pimp's birthday party about 9 years ago and saw a prostitute get dragged by the hair outside, for the pimp to do God knows what to her, all because she got mad at him for recruiting another woman. It wasn't the prostitute of the pimp whose party it was; it was the ho of one of his friends. If prostitution were legal he wouldn't be able to treat her like that because she'd have the law able to protect her.

Can you imagine how much society would change if it were legalized?!?!

Vegas is the only place in the US where they have it correct.

reply

I think it should but with restrictions. Hence like the way escort services and brothels do it. In fact brothels are a lot safer since everything goes on in the house and no one is risking their lives by being taken somewhere by a strange man. And even if women could walk up and down the street there should be restrictions like for instance no one should be out side of Wal Mart asking for $20 to give a blowjob or whatever.

It has always been legal in my home country of Canada. However they do so in the most asinine fashion. While the act - sex for money - is legal, everything else: advertising, setting up brothels and procurement are all illegal. So you have the worst of both worlds. None of the safety, protection and health benefits that licensing and inspections and rules would bring and all the criminal dangerous exploitative elements are still in force.
Full decriminalization of course with rules and licensing like any other business is the logical solution imo.
This would do nothing to help the plight of child prostitution (other than perhaps freeing up some resources) but that is an entirely separate problem.
