The reason why it was banned from showing in Lebanon
I had the chance to view Arbid's third fiction film on arte last night and I think I understand now why it was banned from showing in theaters in Lebanon. It wasn't because of the badly-filmed/badly-acted sex scenes or the vaguely-written tasteless espionnage story. It was because the movie was bad. Just bad. I mean gladly Arbid wasn't caught in the melodrama trap like did her counterpart Nadine Labaki, but c'mon! What was that?
The lead characters are good actors, I give them that. But other than that, the whole thing was a mess. Poor script which looks like it was written one afternoon in a crowded coffee shop. Bad music mainly made up of cover songs arranged by Zaid Hamdan who's a complete douche. Oh, and why was Carole Ammoun's character thrown in there? It offered absolutely nothing to the story. Just because somebody is your close friend, it doesn't mean you have to cast her in all your movies.
Apart from Berling and Hamze's relatively good acting, the only thing I liked about this piece of crap is the lighting. Whoever did that has real talent.
