Done Before.

It's a really good plot device. Bank robbers posing as a film crew. Surprised i've only seen it done once before on an old episode of the Andy Griffith Show. I watch a lot of B&W crime dramas, noir and gangster movies. This seems like the kind of device that would have been rehashed a hundred times. But I've only seen something similar once, that I can recall.

i immediately thought of Argo when i read the synopsis.

Like Argo, it is based on a true story. Unlike I was with Argo, I saw this film yesterday and was totally disappointed, it is awful.

dang..

Argo was quite plain, predictable, and self-assertive.
I will watch this though, and I will be able to gauge your assessment.

After The Fox (1965), directed by Vittorio De Sica from a screenplay co-written by Neil Simon and starring Peter Sellers, uses this plot device.
