One thing the Smurfs movie series did right

I love how the two live action Smurf movies have very different feels about them. Many sequels just try to do the very same thing as the first movie but on a more grand scale (aka bigger and better); this is essentially what the Jurassic Park and even the Transformers series have become, just reiterations of the same story idea over and over again but with greater amounts of special effects with each iteration.

The Smurfs movies are different; the first movie has a sense of wonder and awe as two worlds meet for the first time and the individuals (on both sides) within them have to adjust to the quirks and personalities of the other world, but the second movie goes in a different direction and focuses more on the personal aspects of the characters and their lives.

It is because of this that I can enjoy watching both movies and not have to pick which one I have to like better, because they're both very different stories and not just more enhanced versions of the other.
