Oh God NOOOO!!!!!!! Bad enough there is one

Why why why why? Do we really need to make another smurfs movie? Neil for the love of everything that is descent QUIT THE PROJECT while you're ahead. Can those greedy producers not make a sequel for anything? There is no such thing as good taste these days. THE PRODUCERS SHOULD BE SHOT!!!!!

The story could've at least taken place centrally in the Smurf universe...WTF is this coming back to the real world sh!t?! Goddamn, Hollywood does suck these days.

I agree. Why always movies about Smurfs in the modern times? Their time is the Middle Ages. Peyo would never have created a story about Smurfs in the modern times. He had more inspiration than Hollywood has nowadays.

And neither would hanna barbera, both of them are rolling in their graves.

"Gargamel in modern times"

"Sophie was another popular Belgian comic series about a fun-loving little girl who was created by her father made with sugar, spice and everything nice, written and drawn by Vicq and Jidéhem. In a crossover story drawn in 1975, it is shown that the Smurfs have survived to the 20th century since Sophie and her friend Little Bernard find them in a nearby wood — the Smurfs being on a winter holiday. Gargamel appears, though he is renamed Edgar Gamel, who is said to be a bit of a sorcerer and who claims to have studied occult sciences. He too wants revenge on the Smurfs, implying that he is the original Gargamel who has also lived as far as the 20th century, or else a future incarnation or counterpart of him."

okay, maybe Peyo didn't write that particular story. I don't know if he did or not. He might have or might not have.

However, he was still alive at the time.

So I'm assuming that he must have (or probably) gave his approval for that story or something.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE IT DON'T!

It is that simple. I couldn't care less if they decided to make the sequal to the worst movie ever made. Make 1,000 of them. I don't have to see it do I?

SAME GOES TO YOU! Don't see this. What is the problem?

reply

I wholeheartedly agree, Stu_Pitt! Thanks. Promise you won't see this? I promise.

Don't forget that these movies are made for the kids. I drive a school bus and the KIDS, especially kindergarten kids, love the SMURF's and also The Chimpmunks too. They sing the songs and even quote the movies and get quite a giggle out of it! You should hear them go on about Kung Fu Panda!

"I love kung fuuuuuu!"

Remember, not all movies are for everyone and once and a while they make them for the kids only!

reply

Totally agreed. At first like always, I frowned but my daughter love them, bring them again as many times as you want.

A good "kids movie" can be enjoyed by everyone.

For example, Kung Fu Panda is an immensely enjoyable animated film.

See also: Almost anything from classic Disney, Pixar, or Studio Ghibli.

Sure, kids like lots of dumbed down movies. But movies don't have to be dumbed down for kids to like them. And this is the difference between a good family movie, and a bad one.

people these days... never know a good movie when they see one, the first was fantastic, it deserves a sequel or two, or three.

Perhaps the OP should worry less about kids movies and more about being a grown adult that can't spell. As another poster said...this is a kid's movie and the fact that half of you are complaining about it...and cursing???! Cursing over a kid's movie?? I think you all look absolutely stupid. I grew up with The Smurfs and thought the first film was well done/adorable/cute and fun. I'm looking forward to seeing this new one. Why you would waste your time complaining about a KID'S MOVIE...is beyond me. For the love of all that is DESCENT...do us all a favor and shhhh.

(Before some of you look more foolish by pointing out my spelling mistake, let me clarify that it was done on purpose mocking the OP.)

1) The fact those movies are made for the kids make them so much WORSE, and all the more questionable given their "humour" and "quality"...

2) The original comics was targeted to everybody, not just badly raised kids with a fondness for toilet humour and sex jokes. They all had subtext about politics, democracy, the economy, etc. that's what made them so successful, loved and admired in the first place. Those "movies" are a disgrace and an insult to every single human being.

I almost died when I read this. Nuff said.

Jurassic World and Godillz (2014) do NOT deserve sequels but they get them, and they're written FAR worse than Smurfs, the only reason they get acclaim is because of their special effects.

reply

Then don't see this movie. Problem solved.

reply

I grew up with the Smurfs and I do get tired of companies taking stuff I grew up with for the new generation. Come up with something new for once. I agree with the whole don't see it, if don't like it. However, it does get old.

reply

Have you seen it yet? so how do you know it's going to suck? idiot

reply

Is for the kids re.t.a.rd,idiot,dumbass.If you don`t like it don`t watch it,simple as that.
