The scream [spoilers]

When Tiger Chen 'disgraced' the championship or Tai Chi or whatever, he gets disqualified and Keanu Reeves yells into the camera. Was anyone really thrown off by that? Keanu stated later he wanted to see Tiger turn into killer so why would he be upset by that? Or was he yelling because he is excited about what he just saw?

I had a chat to my friend who watched it and he thought that too, that he was yelling in anger at Tiger getting disqualified.. but that made no sense to me, because Tiger acting more like a killer was obviously what Keanu's character wanted.. I think he enjoyed seeing Tiger fight with cruelty and he got a high out of it and perhaps the yell was all about expressing that and perhaps releasing his ki?

My brother mentioned that it was odd, and I too felt it was overly dramatic, but if the expression could be manifest in a sentence, it would be, "Yes! I am excited and filled with energy because this is exactly what I wanted to see!"

It was more like coming to terms with the inner rage and demon.

Remember, he was all about ruining "innocence". The closer Tiger got to killing the closer to the goal he was that Keanu had set before him.

It was, as mentioned by other posters, a expression for a turning point. He was vicariously expelling excitement through Tiger's controlled rage, because he thought it was just a matter of time before it would be Tiger fighting to kill.

Think of it as someone plotting out an amazing plan and everything is going accordingly and you hit that penultimate notch before the finale. No different than a soccer getting on their feet as the timer counts down and the team's star shoots for the goal. The only difference is that Keanu yelled like he wanted someone dead. Same sentiment, though.

IMO he yell excited becuase in that moment he confirmed that Tiger lost his innocence.

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

boom goes the dynamite. That's it. A primal rage fight led to a primal rage scream.

I just laughed because it was so damn goofy.

I like that part so much. It's one of Keanu's greatest moments.
