5.5?

This rating is so unfair this movie is a 6.1!

Yeah, it was very good for an indie movie.

How do all those wonderful things only add up to (what seems to be very arbitrary) 6.1?

reply

I gave it a 7 , but if it will get a minimum note it has to be at least a 6.1 , there's a difference , a 5.5 movie suc#s but a 6.1 is a good movie in my view, but my note was 7 :)

5.5 and 6.1 aren't that different. I'm not even sure what you're complaining about.

reply

Rated 9 as well.

People hate what's popular and people jump on bandwagons. The rest of us are in the middle. Done.

reply

I gave 8 , this is a great movie , what is all about only 5.5 i cant understand !

reply

I gave it an 8 as well. I admit I am somewhat biased though because I've worked at a movie theater. But I enjoyed it. I'm hoping my vote will bump it up a little, I think I might be in the top 1000 voters, but not sure.

reply

There really isn't that much difference between a 5.5 and a 6.1. Hardly worth b*tch*ng about.

I though it was great. I gave it an 8.

reply

It's a 3/10 at best IMO.

reply

5.5 and 6.1 aren't a giant leap away from eachother. If it was their 4.1 vs your 8.5 maybe then I could understand your reason for posting, but that isn't the case here. You think a 5.5 is unfair but your 6.1 isn't even a half a point different, so relax.

reply

I agree with your point wholeheartedly but you might want to check that math again with the whole half a point business.

reply

lol Yeah, I meant "is only", not "isn't even".

My typo was the perfect pitch because you caught it lol

The IMDB rating system is one of the most arbitrary systems around. To try to come up with definitions for each of the possible places on the "line" is a waste of time. Stupid people rate movies. Angry people rate movies. The mothers of the cast rate movies. The producers hire people to rate movies. The number starts at "arbitrary" and ends at "subjective" with no pause in between for "realistic" or "useful."

Generally, the only use for the number is sort of a vague guideline. Over 6 is usually worth watching, under 5 might not be. Even then, you can't tell for sure, unless there are thousands and thousands of votes in.

The best indicator I have about the quality of a movie is to read the threads, then evaluate the opinions based on literacy. Generally I'm more likely to agree with someone who went to school beyond the 7th grade (or at least paid attention). Stupid people have their own movies, with threads like "The movie totes effin ROXORS!" When they venture into movies for normal people, you'll see threads like "borring sh**fest is the worst movy EVR!"

Those threads are a lot more revealing than 6.1 vs. 5.5.

Movies are IQ tests. The IMDB boards are each person's opportunity to broadcast their score.

I gave it 7\10, liked a few of the cast members and I could understand Walt feeling numb
