The Suitcase (spoilers)

So, am I correct in assuming that there was something in the suitcase that keeps people young, which is why Max never seems to age over, what, thirty years? And also why his first wife goes from being old and gray to being a young redhead again?

I suppose so. Its hard to say though in which she was the only one that had reduced in age looks. Maybe though to be induced more in like age to Max's son. I saw as them in the end starting a whole new cycle of life as Max had.Good movie. I wish was a bit longer to fill some holes in what happened.

Thanks for that thought. I actually remembered when he flashed himself with suitcase light.

I came away with the same thought since she seemed to 'Benjamin Button' after viewing the inside of the suitcase. My other thought was why would he give it to his son? Was he hoping it would make up for his not being there as a father? It makes sense not to give it to Sal since he now has zero friends and maybe by giving it to Lyle he can be a better dad than Max was.

That is what it looks like to me. He never externally aged in the movie, but his organs aged. He probably figured he would live longer by opening the suitcase from time to time.

People don't change...we just get older

see i thought the whole not ageing thing throughout was just a metaphor at how we all still feel young on the inside but actually our bodies are ageing constantly... and as it was a story from his point of view, it was him that didn't age.

the suitcase was a bit of a wtf? moment... didn't really get it

remembered it from the beginning... but is this why he had no family? and never talked about them?
did he get it from sal? and that's why sal had no friends and his dad had died 150 years before??

and why on earth would somebody up there like him? he was a dick
