The clouds in this film were beautiful! I loved the very fast moving clouds in the backgrounds, the sunsets...all of the backgrounds in Studio Ghibli films are amazing. Personally I didn't take to this film much, I prefer Arietty or the weirdness of Howl's Moving Castle or Spirited Away, but it was worth watching just for the clouds and the animation of wind ruffling hair, smoke and clothing. Lovely.

Exactly. Definitely one of the things that inspires Pixar, as well.

As a cloud lover myself, I also agree though I noticed that nearly every shot showed wind in one way or another, and the clouds were just one. With the word "wind" in the title, my guess is that part of the inspiration and challenge was to depict wind as almost another character.
