Sleep walking

How is she not aware of her own condition? Better yet, If he really cared, why has he not told her about it? Record it and take her to see a doctor/psychiatrist?
It is a touching story, but it almost seems like he is taking advantage of the situation instead of actually assisting her to get the help she really needs.
