She needs her mouth washed out

Can't she control her potty mouth for tv cameras at least?

reply

I agree with you. I've been watching the since soon after it premiered and I've never seen her like she is this season with such a "potty mouth". I'm not surprised by it here and there in television these days, but she's really overdoing it!

Yeah, I agree. She never used to curse hardly ever on the show. Now it seems the most recent shows are full of censored beeps from her foul language. I get that it used to be a kick to swear on tv and have it bleeped out, but now it's just overdone everywhere. It just makes people sound unintelligent, IMO.

I really, REALLY agree with each comment on this topic-"potty-mouth". Personally, I find it really distasteful when I hear a woman cuss! Yeah, I guess I'm 'old-fashioned'. I was raised that a 'lady' does NOT use foul language. Foul language from EITHER sex IS distasteful & I think it shows how ignorant (LACK of knowledge)the person is! Amy HAS gotten worse, they cut the word 'out' & 'blur out' her mouth!! I can still tell what the wird was, unfortunately, but when the network does THAT?? You KNOW it's BAD. She CAN do better than resorting to gutter-mouth!!

reply

either get over it and enjoy the show for the crapfest it is or don't watch it.

but I do have to agree with the fact that it's crazy how she went from being very conservative with her speech to a regular sailor. sometimes she's worse than the shows that allow swearing.

Praise Cheesus & the Flying Spaghetti Monster for people who can see past the "dirty" trees to realize there's a forest out there!

Folks, it seems in EVERY episode, Amy discusses her "opening." If you haven't figured it out, she isn't talking about opening the car door to get out before walking the property.

She has explained previously that she enters a meditative state which enables her to open her mind to information and perceptions from things other than the traditional five human senses. I've never heard it said, but I strongly suspect she doesn't do it on camera to prevent people with latent abilities they can't yet control from becoming too open and getting into difficult/dangerous situations.

In opening her mind to additional input, she also CLOSES parts of her mind or turns down certain types of brain activity to minimize interference from other brain regions and functions.

One of the main areas she turns way down is higher cognitive function. She is a physical medium, she FEELS (and empaths), THINKING is not what her skill involves.

Essentially, lowering the activity of the frontal cortex makes her behave as if she were younger, reduces her vocabulary, and makes her more emotionally labile. She doesn't self-monitor how others perceive her, she goes with the flow of information & feelings she receives to do her job, not validate her sociological "mirror-image self."

Such reduced frontal cortex activity can often make someone appear as if he or she is drunk or high (on mushrooms). Like many drunk people, she sometimes makes exaggerated facial expressions or conveys a surprising amount of emotion in her voice. Something else many people who are drunk do, as well as people who have brain damage in their higher cognitive centers, is SWEAR. In order to entertain the audience, answer questions, and help the clients, her filters got turned off. To be as open as possible and get all the info available, those filters NEED to be turned off. You never hear anything because there is still an editor whose filters are fully intact, SO WHAT ARE YOU SO UPSET ABOUT?

Because of Amy's beliefs, lifestyle, vocabulary, and lack of superficial, judgmental assumptions and name-calling, it really gets under your skin because she is not identical to you? I can't fathom how insecure one would have to be to be bothered because someone on television has values and priorities that differ from one's own. It's entirely irrational. I strongly encourage you to meet more people who are different from you so you can discover that different is not bad, that variety will give you a broader, more well-rounded perception of the world, the people in it, and everything they have to offer.

To me, rigid prohibition of swearing is also indicative of a society, culture, or person seeking to destroy creativity and eliminate individuality. There is even documentation that swearing reduces pain, http://scienceblogs.com/neurophilosophy/2009/07/13/swearing-increases-pain-tolerance/

So, how about we let s/he who is without sin cast the first stone next time?

reply

too much to read, so I'm not reading it. all I can really tell is that you're lecturing me, and I don't care. and honestly, I don't know why I'm being lectured.

then I see "s/he who is without sin cast the first stone" and then I know I really couldn't care less about this "novel".

reply

If you think your opinion is the only one that the world should read why even post on a message board? For someone so close minded and ignorant I find it pretty ballsy to openly critique someone else.

reply

Rileycoyote98, thank you. It's a shame sh*t aligned so it appeared I was going off on crowess when she was probably the most reasonable person who had posted. NOT my intent. But, as we know, sh*t happens.

To be entirely even-handed, I was being condescending. "Folks, it seems in EVERY episode, Amy discusses her "opening." If you haven't figured it out, she isn't talking about opening the car door to get out before walking the property. " UGH. I'm sorry. Someone's comment about ladies and swearing hit all my buttons, and I have more than a few.

It does kinda seem like people should attempt to take a moment to mentally walk a meter in Amy's moccasins to figure out WHY instead of just griping.

I thinned out Toxoplasma's answer (for those of you unwilling to read it all).

Overall, I 100% agree. Since I read Toxo's response, I've been paying attention to her behavior and actions and when she is doing her walk, she displays the thought processes and behaviors of your average 15 year old. But when she does her voice-overs and reveals, she's back to adult behaviors. So I say, give her some slack.

"Potty mouth" -- eye roll. She's bleeped, so cut the sheet. I appreciate her keepin' it real, y'all. That's def not a job for a prissy chick afraid of her own shadow. No offense. ;^)B

It doesn't bother me at all.. I don't really care if she's swearing all the time, I just care about the case and the reveal :)
