This movie scared the hell out of me

I wouldn't call it a perfect movie by any stretch. I think we are all pretty tired of the found footage gimmick, and I do think the plot was a bit all over the place. However, this movie scared the crap out of me. You can call me a wimp or whatever, but my wife is a serious horror movie buff and I've watched (suffered through) well over 100 horror/thriller flicks over the past few years and very few have stuck with me the way this one did. Then again, I've always been afraid of Aliens, soooo....

I agree. I watch horror movies regularly, so it takes a lot to scare me. This one had me jump several times and I went to bed after with that "monster under the bed" feeling. Really creepy. I loved it!

yeah i was scared too! i love my horror and have seen so many that when one scares me i have to give it kudos!

Agreed. The whole atmosphere was creepy as hell, especially the use of sound. I can guarantee that if I saw it in a movie theater instead of at home, at least half a dozen jump-scares (including the one right before the title credit) would have made me scream at the top of my lungs. I usually warn people around me (if the mood is friendly) before a movie that I know is going to make me jump and scream a couple times that I'm a screamer. My poor husband, who is NOT a horror fan like I am, patiently suffers through it, he's usually the one stuck going to see stuff like "Sinister", "Mama", and "The Conjuring" with me since none of my female friends are into scary movies. Though if the movie is entertaining enough he doesn't mind. I yelped a little and flinched at some of the jump scares even watching this at home, though. I knew the scene with the weird pale face suddenly peeking out of that tunnel or tube or whatever it was coming since it was in the trailer, and I still jumped.
Really, the reviews I read of the movie didn't prepare me for how freaked out I was, they just mentioned some 'very creepy moments'. Banshee Chapter was actively frightening in several parts.

yes, me too! I've been watching and loving horror movies for 42 years, and this is the first once since I was a kid to make me jump! I think it was the shortwave "numbers stations" ... those are real, I used to search for them on the shortwave radio I had as a kid. recently at a friend's house, he had a shortwave radio and I searched around, and found several numbers stations, woodpeckers and the signals that are just ... scary. so this movie had me on edge right away, and kept me there.

also, the moment I recognized Thomas as Jame Gumb - AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Really? I love horror movies and this one was interesting, but I didn't find it scary for some reason.

Sinister, now that movie scared the absolute *beep* out of me and stayed with me for days...

By the way, I am right behind you.

I didn't find this movie too scary, but it did give me a nightmare later that night. Those empty eye sockets got to me.

Well I wanted to like this movie, had most the elements that I like, but for me it didn't work that well, it definitely felt cheap and disjointed and no jumpscare got me... but I found the one in the tanker particularilly well done. This movie is worth a watch just like 1 x files story that lasts 2 episodes, but with a bit worse special effects.
