Unless you've ever been to a psychic medium...

dont sit here and say what they do is a scam. Maybe there are some psychics that are scams (re: tarot readers, shacks on the side of the road, etc.). Psychic mediums are different than regular mediums, as they do not try to tell your future or fortune. They channel dead people/loved ones who are connected to people who are living and give them messages (if they have one). They charge a lot of money because they are good at what they do and this is how they make a living. The more thorough the psychic medium, the more they charge.

Unless you have been to a psychic medium (legit psychic medium) dont sit here and say they are fake! I for one went to one after my mom passed away and all the lady knew was my sister's first name and her phone number...that's it. This medium told us things that no one would have known except for us. She acknowledged our older sister and brother (who dont have our same last name so there's no way she could have just googled us) and told me exactly how my mom died and told me things that happened to me while my mom was dying in the hospital and feelings/thoughts that I had. NO WAY anyone would know that....not even my sisters.

reply

You should try going to a psychic well-done.

The facts are less chewy, plus you get less heartburn.

P.S. Isn't the phrase "legit psychic medium" an oxymoron?

reply

Yes it is. I have been to a psychic healer. It was not my choice. And guess what, he did not help one bit. I know it is different scam, but similar none the less.

Like there is no easy money, there no legitimate psychic, ghosts, bigfoot, monsters, vampires, witches, werewolves, gods, haunted houses and so on. It was all created by part of the human brain to cope with an unknown. Kind of brain shortcut. And of cause some opportunists took advantage of it. It is in human nature too to get on top regardless of anybody else's wellbeing.

reply

'It was all created by part of the human brain to cope with an unknown"

I'm prettttty sure the psychic medium I went to knew everything she had told me. My sister went back to the same psychic medium we had gone to to connect with my mom and the medium this time told my sister that her husband was cheating on her with someone out of state and to check the phone records...sure enough, when she got home, she checked the phone records...found out he was cheating on her with a woman in Texas.

reply

So because you went to a scam artist, you know for sure that they're all fake? You are entitled to your opinion, but I do believe that there are real mediums out there.

reply

I was always taught the real ones don't charge money.

reply

Just exactly how do you expect them to make a living and pay their bills? I suppose you don't expect "real" doctors to charge for saving your life, either? Don't tell me that's any different - it's not.

reply

Lets see.....mhhhmmmm they can work ANY job and pay their bills. They don't have to be a paid psychic to make a living and pay their bills. I know of someone who is a medium but they dont ever require money or anything. To compare doctors and psychics is beyond stupid. Why??? Because doctors go to intense amounts of school and have to passed qualifying test. Psychics don't they can they say they are be considered one. K?Thanks?Bye!

If you had some sort of gift you'd probably want to cash in on it, too. She probably makes tons of money from it. Good mediums charge $150/hour if not more than that.

If you watch the show you will see that she also does free readings. When she goes to a store etc, if she feels something, she tells them.

Well, at least in those cases the price actually matches the value of the product. Zero.

reply

Put some perspective on your silly comment. Well, if you can't do it, I'll do it for you.

To you... the observer, who doesn't give a crap... there is absolutely no value to the "free reading" that she may have done. To the person who received the free reading? Well, the lightening of their heart & soul was most likely priceless to them. For you to arrogantly reduce THEIR experience to being valueless is cruel and insulting to the person whose quality of life was just improved in a way they never may have imagined.

It's ok for you to be closed minded. Don't expect that the rest of the world has to conform to your limited capacity to explore the subject matter.

reply

Of course, the "real ones" charge money. What are you thinking? Do you expect someone to carry a full 9-5 job and then give their gifts away during all of their free time? You're just being ridiculous. You also completely ignore the fact that she reads for people all the time w/o charging.

Here's how I work... I'm not a medium... but am a healer. I charge my clients. If they can pay, they pay. For those whom I feel need my skills, they are invited to receive my work whether they can pay for it or not. The healing is the most important thing, but don't you ever think for one hot minute that I'm supposed to work a full-time job flipping burgers so that you can feel I'm "legit" in my work by healing you during my off hours. Does that not just sound completely preposterous to think?

Have you done thorough research to conclude this? Please post your findings. ty.

Let's make it simple. Had anyone ever proven they have real powers? James Randi pets one million to anyone willing to prove they are real. You don't find it odd that they will take hundreds of dollars from anyone WANTING to believe, but don't have the balls to prove it for a million dollars to shut skeptics up for good?

They are all liars and scam artists. That said, people looking for closure will believe anything if it helps them in some way, even if it's all lies.

reply

A "medium" would have to be willing to have their claims truly tested for that to happen. None do so willingly.

Many have unwittingly been exposed, though.

Here's an article posted by someone else on this board: http://www.cracked.com/article_20566_the-6-most-humiliating-public-fai lures-by-celebrity-psychics.html

But I know, all those people are fake, but you found a real one. And somehow that person isn't the most famous person on Earth. Somehow, a plurality of con artists have managed at least to get a TV show outta their scam, but your genuine article is either incapable or uninterested in bringing his SUPER POWER to a wider audience and put it to greater good. Makes perfect sense.

I'm sorry if that comes off rude, but come on. We gotta get past this at least, people. Help me out here.

"That's what a gym teacher once told me."

reply

Hate to say it, but it's all a con, always has been and always will be, some of the first reports of this was with 2 sisters in 19th Century England, preying on war widows during the Crimean War saying they had messages from their dead loved ones, luckily they were caught and sentenced..And it hasn't changed since!
They DO have ways of finding ANYTHING about you and your family normally through "Cold" reading, they know the reason you are there is because you need to be, you can't let go and you WILL subconsciously say things and they know this and when they bring up some "Amazing" fact only your family would know...Nah, you'd already let it slip without realising in a chat at some point with them...I have a friend who's a Medium & quite a big one, she did a reading for me a few years ago just after my Dad had died, I played along to every "Fact" she came out with & me doing the old "Oh My God how did you know!!" routine until the end, when I turned round & said "The only thing you got right was my Dads name & you knew that anyway!". :-)
Don't be fooled by these people, experts have said that you will never have closure over a loved one if you keep believing they're messaging you, you need to naturally mourn.
Try looking at the James Randhi site and especially the Derren Brown site (Recommended) to see how it all works...You might feel a bit stupid, but it's better than splashing the cash again.

There are no "real" psychics. They're completely powerless, con artists. People like you will continue to allow these scammers to flourish and take hard earned money from well-wishing individuals.

reply

Why get excited? Believe, or not. I know my own experiences. What is the point in typing our all-important opinions? What does it serve? Maybe it's a way to vent. That's good. But if one believes or one does not--why can't we leave each other alone?

reply

Well, if you want to be left alone, you shouldn't come to a messageboard.

We all know that this is a place where people mostly argue. You can't be surprised that a board for a "psychic" tv show has people challenging the premise.

"That's what a gym teacher once told me."

reply

A phone number lookup can provide lots of info.

Also, did she know this stuff? Or did you tell her.

Everyone says that "THERE'S NO WAY THERESA COULD HAVE KNOWN THAT" but really she didn't know anything. She ASKS people stuff and THEY tell her! That's what cold reading is and then thanks for the forer affect they later process it as "omg she knew this info!!".

Personally I think some people may truly have this gift but Theresa is NOT one of them, and anybody who truly knows the truth about the after life would know how immoral it is to charge thousands of dollars for a gift they claim to have gotten for free.

reply

A real psychic does not need to be in front of the person to read them, same with mediums. A real, genuine psychic does not need even be speaking to the person at the time to get a message or information about someone. A real psychic/psychic medium gets messages from their "source," either their own spirit guide/guardian angel, another person's guide/angel, another person's dead friends or family members. That's how it works, nothing more, nothing less.

I have a lot of analogies I could use to describe what a real psychic says or does, or should say or do, or can say or can do, but I won't ramble. Believe what you want to believe, I don't care, not here to convince anyone that all psychics are fake or all are real or Caputo is definitely real or definitely fake. Just here to add some perspective and insight into what I know.

One thing that really upsets me that nobody here is talking about...is all the GYPSY "readers/spiritualists" who are the FAKES. I mean, there might be a real gypsy who has real psychic abilities, but highly unlikely LOL. They are the ones with the neon signs in the windows saying "psychic/tarot/palm reader...past, present, future..." They have storefronts and work out of their homes, almost always with a neon or big wooden sign in the front yard. THOSE are gypsy psychics, and THOSE are the fakes. The only people who will sell you a "cure" for the spell or bad energy that someone cursed you with, are the gypsies. And they all share information with each other, so you go to one psychic in one of those stores, then 2 weeks later go to another one in another store nearby, you'll see that they kind of look alike, they kind of say the same things as each other. You're all impressed b/c if they both said it, it must be true! Well, these are gypsies, who are probably all related to each other somehow or friends, and share information. Very easily done. Not googling others, not doing background checks per se, but sharing info to make sure you hear the same info all the time.

THOSE are the ones you need to go after, esp after they take all your money to rid you of curses galore (which don't exist). Start googling "psychic gypsy scams/frauds" and you'll get lots of juicy information LOL.

Also, psychic medium readings didn't start in the late 18th century or whenever someone typed, talk about centuries, 2,000 years maybe? The Babylonians are the ones said to have invented tarot cards and giving strangers a psychic reading, so this is old hat, not a recent phenomena.

Again, I'm rambling, but look up those gypsy readers and you will be horrified. THEY are the ones you should all be hating against, not the VERY few who get famous on TV and write books, etc. There are WAY worse people in the world who steal your money "legitimately," like lawyers who won't defend an innocent defendant who was wrongly accused of a serious crime, b/c they don't have the money to pay the lawyer...Or a doctor who won't see very sick and ill patients b/c they don't have a PPO and won't accept cash or Medicare, etc...Especially when those patients end up dying from lack of proper healthcare...Don't get me started on the greedy banks and credit cards, and other corporations who rob, steal, and probably kill others to earn money and then not even pay taxes to the government, those people are horrid, evil, wicked, terrible. Gypsies are terrible for stealing your money for giving you false hopes, but at least they're not out destroy your health/life/money/credit. Just a lesser degree of horror, those gypsies. I need a nap, I'm not making much sense LOL, but the gypsies (especially those that work on those psychic hotlines, like KEEN, etc) are the ones to hate, not the few who have a true gift of psychic mediumship!

Rant over, carry on...
