£2.80 for a pint in the eighties?

Somehow I think they may have forgotten when the film is set...

Yea I thought that, and at the end of the game the kit was as clean as the day it was bought, still I stuck with it and saw it through.

I took it to mean £2.80 for the two pints; £1.40 each.

two pints. Matt has already said he has no money and in the Uk it is (or was) customary to buy a round.

According http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/opinion/news/john-niven-wish-could-go-3604717 and https://www.facebook.com/colchester.gazette/posts/596961193707788 in 1984 a pint of beer was 72p or 73p. Half of that mentioned in the film.
