A beautiful film about the dedication of dancers

I am a huge fan of "ballet films" and I have to say that I absolutely loved this documentary. It was gorgeously filmed, nicely paced, and the stories of these young people really drag you in. I cared about each and every one of the "characters" and by the end I was cheering them on as they were awarded for their talents and dedication. Seeing people who are so young and have such a strong passion for something in life is inspiring.

The dance numbers we get to see are all AMAZING. My personal favorite was Gaya's contemporary dance. Her link of emotion and movement was eye grabbing. Her mother even said that this little girl transforms when she dances and it seems like she is not a child anymore but a grown woman. I DEFINITELY saw that in her face when she danced, she was entirely in her own world. It was fantastic to watch.

An overall spectacular film

Colin:Everyone thinks I'm going to die.
Mary:If everyone thought that about me, I wouldn't do it.

Agree to all the positives in your OP.
I saw this beautiful documentary today, just online.
How I wish it'll come to our cinemas one of these days here in my place (Philippines) even if only for a few days. It hasn't got a release date for my country in the movies's page here in IMDb, but Japan which is nearest us will have it come Dec. 1st.

I enjoyed watching this one tremendously, there's always something magical to me about ballet, (I didn't like Black Swan at all though) not only about the en pointe dancing but also about the graceful movements, even when there are parts that require great passion and vigorous routines. I only wish there were more contestants where the five dance minutes required of each were fully shown.

I think Michaela Deprince fully deserve the jury's award of the Grand Prix ; she was wonderfully lyrical in a very graceful and feminine number. I was also very glad for Joan Sebastian Zamora - the one who did a Variation from Don Quixote, with his expansive dramatic movements - who was awarded a scholarship to the UK Royal Ballet School.

Truth inexorably, inscrutably seeks and reveals Itself into the Light.

Gaya is the kid that stays in my head the most. I don't know enough about ballet to know if she will go on to star in a ballet group or not, but I do know that she is the type of dancer that has performance *smarts*...being able to perform poetically with heart and soul combined.

Her love for that little boy, (Aaron?), was also so adorable to watch. I wonder if any romance will spark between the two when they grow up. They are so sweet together.
