black and white bomb scenes

I saw about 2 hours of THE CLOCK this past Sunday (13:37 - 15:32), and there were several scenes of a security guard tied up and gagged, glancing at an old-fashioned bomb (with an alarm clock attached)

I believe I even saw the scene where they tied his ankles and gagged him, early in my visit

He kept popping up (every time he looked at the alarm clock, I guess :) ), and I'd hoped to see how it all turned out. But by 15:30, when I had to leave, he was still tied up (or at least nothing had exploded)

I know that's not much to go on, but does anyone else have any idea WHAT MOVIE those clips were from?
